OK, so I never really watched The Devil Wears Prada all the way through, but since I've been in school, I've been more intrigued to learn everything I can about the business so that I can be an asset to the Austin Family Brands. I'm actually 30 minutes from finishing the full movie and couldn't wait to blog. I have so many mixed emotions. The demanding pulse of Miranda's work place is so inspiring, Andy's position I believe we all can relate and the boyfriend at home waiting on someone that seems to be advancing in life without them. He's sad but supportive. Many of us have played his roll as well.

Choosing a demanding career, I believe, requires an understanding spirit from within. Andy's dedication to herself was an important aspect of the film. Being dedicated to you will benefit others around you. Life will present a demanding pace in some careers. I don't know about you, but I live for it. To run a company like "Runway" is the Ultimate goal. A place were there is little room for error. God gave us the ability to be like Him. He is the ultimate executor and I'm ready to go for it all.

Okay, I guess you can say that Mike has finally died down in the Media, sort of. I'm really not feeling the movie thing. The taping of over 100 hrs of rehearsals confirms to me that all this was a plan to kill him. You notice how they haven't mentioned anything else about the "Doctor". Last thing was that his death was confirmed as a homicide!!! So what next? a movie? you've gotta be kidding me. We aren't dumb. As a die hard fan I want justice to be served although far fetched, something needs to be done to someone.

Mr. Eugene Thomas Puerling. My heart was captivated by his arrangement back in 2003 when I was Introduced to The Singers Unlimited. A group he formed in 1971. They are really dope so I have to dedicated this post to them. R.I.P. Gene Puerling.

Today was a day of realization for me. Since my victorious bout with gun violence and Michael Jackson's passing, I've been doing tons of research on everything from homicide, secret societies, mind control, and conspiracy theories. I've come to the point were I can't take any of the crap anymore. I live in a neighborhood with 75% Latino people, 5% crackheads 15% ghetto blacks, and 5% people like me. These numbers are a little bit exaggerated of course. Anyway I live across the street from a middle school and I've noticed the amount of Latino and Asian business that get all our children's money. I don't have anything against these nationalities but I'm tired of the government giving out passes to everyone and making America pay for it. This is not only an African American issue its an American Issue. But right now I'll focus on the African American issue. I refuse to sit back and be under resourced. I have a Billion dollar empire that can't get off the ground because of the lack of resource. RESOURCE IS MONEY FOLKS!! I know where to get it. There are conventions like CEO Space that cost $7500 to attend. I have intellectual properties that need to be insured up to the value of what I stand to loss if someone steals my idea. I have corporate structure to set up which my cost anywhere from $1000-$5000.
I have a nonprofit organization that needs to be set up. I need to hire a staff of 10-12 people just get it going.....These companies I own will employ up to 200 people in 5yrs.
Foreigners come to America with seed money from there county's and get years of tax breaks when they start their businesses. Who pays for it? The latino catering/ice cream business is booming in the inner city. They have taco trucks everywhere open at all hours of the night and believe me they're racking in the big bucks. I love Latino people's drive they have amazing work ethic. Ice Creams trucks are rotating through the inner city blocks every hour on the hour.
I'm sayin all that to say that I'm going to get every resource available for me. I would urge all you who read this go get everything God has for you. There is so much we need to do for the kingdom of God. Lets go people.

I HAD AN AWESOME DAY TODAY. I STARTED DOING CALISTHENICS AT HOME WHILE WATCHING MAKING HIS BAND. THAT SHOW IS VERY INSPIRING TO ME. THE MUSICIANSHIP AND ARTISTRY COMBINED WAS WHAT THE INDUSTRY WAS BUILT ON. I CAN RELATE. I THEN WENT ON A JOG WITH MY SISTER IN MANHATTAN BCH TODAY, I REALLY LOVED THE AREA. THE BEACH FRONT IS AN AMAZING PLACE TO LIVE. WHAT INSPIRES ME THE MOST ABOUT THE AREA IS THE FACT THAT THERE ONCE WAS A BLACK OWNED SECTION OF MANHATTAN BCH RECENTLY NAMED BRUCE'S BEACH. IN THE EARLY 1900'S PROMINENT BLACK FAMILIES LIVED IN THE AREA BUT WERE FORCED TO MOVE DUE TO "EMANATE DOMAIN" BETTER KNOWN AS AN ACT OF PREJUDICE. THEY MADE THE BLACK FAMILIES SELL THEIR PROPERTIES BELOW MARKET VALUE. THAT VERY FACT ALONE INSPIRES ME TO WANT TO BUY UP EVERYTHING OVER THERE. IT REALLY BEAUTIFUL. AFTER THE WORKOUT WE ATE SALADS AND WENT TO JOAN'S. CONNIE NEEDED SOME YARN FOR AN ORDER SHE GOT. I SAW SOME REALLY COOL ARTS AND CRAFTS STUFF I COULD DO WITH MY DAUGHTER. UPON MY ARRIVAL AT HOME I WATCH DADDY'S GIRL. THERE SHOW MAY BE A LITTLE DRAMATIZED BUT THE FACT THAT THEY HAVE IT GOING ON INSPIRES ME. THAT'S WHY THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR AFRICAN AMERICAN PEOPLE. Christians need to be Careful who they glorify

I received an email of a blog post today by Min. G. Craig Lewis that was interesting. http://gcraige.blogspot.com/ Check it out and leave a comment hear on my blog. He was speaking about President Obama passing some gay pride month bill. Then he begins pointing fingers at the church for voting for him. please read my email response below:

This is an interesting topic. The reality is it comes as no surprise
to those who know your word. We have been living in the end times for
centuries. California has celebrated the homosexual lifestyle as long
as I can remember. Gay parades, choirs, and west hollywood.
Unfortunately Craig is right Obama's "Christianity" is not devout at
all. Its more of a practice not a relationship. But the truth is
nothing would have changed him winning the election. So its no need to
point at the church and say "YOU" voting for him. America voted for
him not just the church.

The most alarming thing about this blog post was the staggering
statistics regarding African Americans. This proves that there is a
huge absence of Christian advocates in our African American
communities. Mr Lewis says that we can't do anything about the passing
of gay pride month (not true), but we can do something about those
statistics that plague us. If our church leaders won't change their
inside the 4 walls agenda then Christian Communities need to rise up
and reclaim our people for Christ. We have a long way to go people. A
Black president didn't really change the black problem in America nor
did it change the problems in Christian churches.

I would urge people to stop looking at Capital Hill and look around
you. Christ is needed right were you live, work, and socialize. I
don't condone any of the gay stuff but come on Craig choose your
battles wisely.

Black In America prt 2: My life a young Black Kid
I really enjoyed the special on CNN last night with Soledad O'brien. Watching it inspired my mind to travel through my past, revisiting the highlights of my life's journey. Growing up without my mother but with my father who adored her absent soul. She died a week before my twin sister and I turned 2 years old in a car accident were she was burned to death. My father always talked about her in a very respectful and loving way, reciting to us that "there is nobody like your mother". The absence of my mother caused a few minor problems with lashing out and fighting other kids who would innocently poke fun at me with "yo mama" jokes. I would jump down their throat so fast. I got suspended a lot in elementary for that. The fighting phased out as I entered Middle School.

Educational Journey
My father was the greatest man ever though not a perfect man, but a perfect father. He noticed my sister and I were very smart and had a us tested for "Highly Gifted" Magnet programs. We went on to the higher learning institutions in LA, My sister attended L.A.C.E.S. directly after our magnet program at Ambler Elementary school. I attended Dodson Jr High a Highly Gifted Magnet in San Pedro CA. I was bused out of the hood into a predominately white neighborhood. The diverse experience and an amazing curriculum shaped my reality. Education I can say was my first "Black in America" moment.

My Musical Journey
I joined the Middle School band in which started my journey as a musician. Band was my favorite class and I played the sax. The teacher Mr. Mitchell was a riot. We'd clown him, he'd clown us back. He didn't play when it came to conducting though. We were an all city performance band. We played and competed against High School bands as well. I could remember having the opportunity to play with San Pedro High School's performing band. They were the #1 band in the city. We played "Bird Land" and "Phantom of the Opera" and I felt so accomplished. That was another "Black in American" moment that changed my perspective.

Becoming a Singer
My father was a church musician so he'd drag us along to everything at church and we loved it.
I can remember riding in the car listening to John P. Kee on the way to church. My father heard me singing along and told me "hey you great a good singing voice". It felt so good as an 8yr old hearing that from your father. So they had me leading one of John's anthem "Jesus is Real". That was my first solo in the youth choir at church. lol!
So now that I knew I could sang I would serenade every girl that walked by in school. "Ribbon in the Sky", Forever My Lady, All I do is Think of You", and "Good bye Love" were my usual numbers I would riff to the ladies. LOL!!

Finding My Father Dead
Essentially my journey into music was a given. I had an audition at Hamilton High Music Academy. I nailed on Sax.That was the last year LAUSD went to 9Th grade Middle school. I only played sax for my 10Th grade year then switched to piano an voice. My High School Journey was very hard. No more than 2 weeks into the school year my world changed when I found my father dead in his room. My Sister and I were 14yrs old and life's was journey was uncertain. I can remember the morning ever so vividly, from the paramedics to family and neighbors rushing over in minutes to assist us. After crying my eyes out in the midst of tearing my room apart I stop suddenly at a voice inside saying "Your a man now". I proudly stood tall that day. That was another "Black in America Moment" for me.
My father was 56yrs young when he died. He always had an "Old School" approach to parenting which we didn't get it completely until he died. He used always talk about not be caught up in the system, using your talents wisely, stop playing so much, and read a book. I can still here that ringing in my mind. He used to tell us that when we graduated he would be going home to the country side, we thought he was talking about Tennessee were most of our family lived. We knew later that he knew he would not be with us on earth much longer.

Hamilton High Gospel Choir
The death of my father was hard but I was strong for my sister. We went and lived with my older sister in a one bed room apartment in Hollywood. I want to commend her because I just realized a few months ago that she was only 26yrs old when all this happened. We had a great time living with her for the most part. I auditioned for the Hamilton High Gospel choir with another heart felt John P. Kee song, "Standing in The Need of Prayer". I love that song. The choir was one of the key cultivating experiences in my teenage years. Our director Fred Martin was big on professionalism and vocal training. The choir was therapy for a lot of us who experienced tragedy or just the normal things teens go through. The choir at times would be the only thing that brought me to school. We performed at the house of blues Gospel Brunch were I would share my testimony and sing my heart out to a tear filled audience. We sang behind many other recording and recorded with Jackson Brown, Steven Segal, and performed at a long list of events. This was another "Black in America" moment in my life.

Career in Music
I started playing the organ at church at 15yrs. I didn't know what the heck I was doing. The church we were attending assumed I had the skill because my father played. I guess they saw more in me than I saw in myself. In a period of one year God took my gift to another level. I was playing that organ like a 5yr vet. It was meant to be. Playing for church molded my ability to create because church was on the job training. I had to have the ability to follow singers and play throughout the service. Since is wasn't formally trained I formed my own style of playing traditional songs. Me and a group of my peers age 15-16yrs old would get together and exchange chord progression. We learned from each other.
I was introduced to music production by my uncle Greg Perry who is an accomplished producer. He invited me to play on some of his tracks. I enjoyed the feeling. After graduating High School I bought a small keyboard and a MPC 60 from my uncle. It was history after that. I knew that music composition was one of my gifts. I was introduced to Mark Gordon for Levert by a manager I was working with at the time Page Turner. Mark helped me perfect the art of track making. Working with him I got my placement on IMX formally known as Immature. I went on to meet Emmanuel Officer, an amazing spirit filled songwriter. He helped me understand the art of songwriting and the ups and downs of the business. I was fortunate enough to work with him on 2 KCI & JOJO projects. I started my independent label Mind Over Music Entertainment in 2001. I was only 21yrs old with a lot of ambition. We produced a compilation CD called "Press Play" way before Diddy. After a lot of adjustments and a Music Industry coarse at UCLA Extension the company was restructured.

Purpose Redefined
I am one of the most sought producers in the market of independent Artist trying to get recording deals. When it comes to artistry I have the ability to see a person's defining characteristics and usually create music based around their unique ability. When Record labels would hear demos of Artist that I've worked with, my music would always stand out. I felt that I would be the next big thing. Over time I became very disappointed with the politics that was involved in our industry. Producers wanting to sign me to them or people trying use my age for ignorance and the horror stories revolving around publishing deals and artist contracts. This is part of the reason I started my own label to ensure that one else would determine if I got a pay check or not.

I prayed and ask God to order my steps in the music business to where he'd get the glory for everything. Finally I feel I have reached that place. Its never the way you perceive things would go. I thought for sure God would open the door for me to have Usher's next big single or Beyonce's next hit. It would take me being shot at 12 times and making it out without a scratch to know exactly how God would get the glory out of my music career.

Voices Against Gun Violence
On the night of Saturday June 20, 2009 my God brother and I were targets in a drive by shooting. Neither one of us were hit but the aftermath was truly a praise worthy reality. 1 shattered car window, 3 bullet whole is my God brothers Crystler 300, 7-9 shell casings in the street, 3 bullet holes in the garage where we were standing before taking cover. That night I was thankful to be in my bed verses a hospital or a coroners office tray table.
My purpose was never to be a statistic. I knew I was here to make a difference artistsicly and socially. I knew that God literally saved me to save someone else.

In the weeks prior to being shot at my sympathy for the victums of gun violence was churning in my heart. Dannie Farber Jr. a young senior/football star at Narbourne High School was killed in Compton California on May 25, 2009. He had a scholarship to play football for Harbor College. I played for this funeral service. I looked out over the sea of young people and my passion begin to grow. Six days following Dannie's unfortunate demise Crystal Crawford, a 24-year-old black woman, was shot in the head at 95th Street and 8th Avenue in Inglewood on May 31. She died in the hospital at 10:47 a.m. on Monday, June 1. She was a preschool teacher in the El Segundo School district. Crystal was best friends with my assistant that works with my company this was to close for comfort. Then finally I got a call Monday June 8, 2009 stating that my Nephew Trayvon Jeffers had been killed. That was the last straw. Trayvon was a reformed at risk teen. He was shot when he was 19yrs old and began his journey for change then. He started working for Homeboy Industries were he was a hard worker, a youth advocate, and a public speaker. The worst part about his fatality was his 6 month old twin daughters. He also had a 14yr old daughter as well. Now they have to grow up with out there father.

This is the typical story in our urban communities. I refuse to sit back and watch this growing trend. I am pleased to announce the launching of my advocacy organization Voices Against Gun Violence. The mission is to utilize the gift of music to raise money for change. Donations or proceeds from the Voices Against Gun Violence projects, concerts, or fundraisers will be given toward building "Alternative Lifestyle" Youth centers across the nation. These centers will teach, educate, counsel, and develop champions. We are targeting trouble areas reaching kids between the age of 5-18. Everything about these youth center will be built on Cristian principles. We're trying to reach kids before they become a killer or victim. People that work for my organization will know that giving Jesus Christ is the greatest gift we can give them.

AN INNOCENT EVENING OF LAUGHS TURNING INTO AN EVENING OF WAR COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN AN EVENING OF TEARS, BUT GOD!!!!!!!!!!

WE WERE OUTSIDE TRANSFERRING ITEMS FROM ONE CAR TO THE NEXT WHEN A CAR ROLLED SLOWLY AROUND THE CORNER THEN FIRING A ROUND AT US. WE HIT THE FLOOR IMMEDIATELY AND HEARD 9-12 MORE ROUNDS THAT SHATTERED THE HATCH BACK TRUNK WINDOW OF THE CAR WE WE'RE UNLOADING, ONCE THE FINAL SHOTS RANG OUT, WE HEAR OUR WIVES SCREAMING OUR NAMES IN DESPAIR, WE YELL BACK AND LET THEM KNOW WE'RE OK. WE RUN BACK UPSTAIRS WITHOUT A GRAZE. GOD IS GOOD. WE IMMEDIATELY CALL THE POLICE, WHEN THEY ARRIVED WE WENT OUT TO ASSESS THE DAMAGE. THE CAR THE SHIELDED US HAD 2 BULLET HOLES, ONE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, ONE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. COMPLETELY SHATTERED BACK WINDOW OF VEHICLE #2. TWO BULLET HOLES IN THE STORAGE CABINETS ABOVE THE CAR IN THE GARAGE. COPS FOUND 7 SHELLS IN THE STREET.
WE WEREN'T HIT AT ALL. THE SHOOTER AND THE ACCOMPLICES WERE APPREHENDED A SHORT TIME LATER IN A NEARBY NEIGHBORHOOD.

TO SUMMARIZE THESE REFLECTIONS I SHOULD LET YOU KNOW THAT I WAS NOT AFRAID BECAUSE I KNEW THAT THE ANGELS WERE THERE. IT DIDN'T SEEM REAL AT ALL. I'M NOT MAD EITHER, I'M MOTIVATED. I'M REMINDED OF THE 18YRS OLD NARBUONE STUDENT RECENTLY KILLED IN COMPTON, AND MY NEPHEW TRAYVON EARL JEFFERS THAT WE JUST LAID TO REST THIS WEEK. BOTH WERE VICTIMS OF A VIOLENT CRIME. SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE AND GOD HAS GIVEN ME A VISION TO HELP STOP THE KILLING. BEING SHOT AT TONIGHT WAS CONFIRMATION THAT THIS VISION WILL BE CARRIED OUT BECAUSE I'M STILL HERE.

Historical Black owned Property in Manhattan Beach

I heard about this story on the new last year and I was amazed by the fact that African-Americans owned a two block section of Manhattan Beach in the early 1900's. The amazing part is that my journey out the house today lead me right to the park. Here is the story that LA Times did on it.

AFTER NEARLY A century of mostly awkward silence, Manhattan Beach is taking a tentative step toward acknowledging its history of racial discrimination by renaming a small park near the ocean Bruce's Beach.

In 1912, Charles A. and Willa Bruce built one of the few venues in Southern California where black families could legally enjoy the surf and sand. They ran a profitable inn, cafe and dance hall within the two-block neighborhood to which minorities were restricted by housing covenants.

But as the popularity of Bruce's Beach grew, so did white hostility. Black beachgoers would find their tires slashed; the Ku Klux Klan torched a black-owned home nearby and tried to burn down the resort. The city seized the property in 1924 via eminent domain on grounds that it was urgently needed for a park. Yet, for the next 30 years, the lot remained vacant.

Now the city is facing its unsavory past with a dedication ceremony March 31. But the efforts at honoring the Bruces seem halfhearted.

For one thing, the city is by no means united -- the City Council split on the renaming, and one councilman said he isn't sure who even warrants an invitation to the event. (Suggestion: Start with Bernard Bruce. Had his grandparents been allowed to keep the property in the family, it now would be worth millions of dollars.)

Then there is the question of the park's new plaque; its message also seems conflicted. An early version said minorities were "housed" in the neighborhood. The final version says that the area "was home to several minority families and was condemned through eminent domain proceedings

Well, yes, times have changed. But the long gap between the incident and the commemoration suggests that times may have changed more slowly than people think. Acknowledging past misdeeds honors yesterday's victims, but it also gives moral texture to the present, announcing that we are no longer a society that tolerates violent, government-sanctioned racism. Californians famously prefer to orient themselves toward the future, but the past counts too, warts and all.

Manhattan Beach should be proud of itself for choosing commemoration. It would be proud of itself if it held a first-rate celebration. Tell the story. Remember what happened. Who should be invited? Everyone, of course.

Well I have to say that social network has distracted me from posting on my own blog. I'm back. I actually just set my mobile device to be able to post to my blog by text. Since when has music become only entertainment.....Music is one of the most important things in my life and to see it becoming a joke is disheartening. When I first heard about The Dream I thought he was a dope writer. "Umbrella" by Rhianna, and J holiday's "Bed" were pretty dope records. So when you hear that someone is actually gonna be an artist there is a bit of anticipation. But then I heard "Shorty is a 10" I was like who the hell is this singing this horrible song. Same with Neyo his pen is on fire and Artistically better then The Dream but vocals suck. initially he didn't want to be an artist, inside sources say.

At this point I fault the labels and publishers for this crap. See it benefits them more when they can do a 360 deal with a songwriter verses an artists with no pen. They would rather settle for poor quality singing to get more money out of the act, what about the songwriters who can sing and write a beast of a record................frustrated!!!!!!!!! Lets all start a huge movement.....James Fauntleroy inspires me to keep going, that's it

OK!!! I reliezed that I haven't put anything on my blog in a minute, I've been distracted by facebook and youtube learning the formulas for success, but I promised myself that before I go to bed I would write in my blog about my day. I tookmy little on to school this morning, dropped off paperwork to be faxed to my wife, went to the Gym, then to Mind Over Music Studios to work with my Uncle Greg Perry(Google Him), to a break to drop of my Daughter's Progress report to her teacher, then Back to the studio for a session with Nico. Darryl came by to wotk with and we finished writing in 30 mins....finished recording round 11pm, got home round 12m had 2 peices of El Polo, Got on the computer to solicite people to check out my video blogs, checked out other people's blogs, now I'm here Thanx for listening.

RUDE AWAKENING

I received a call today that a High School Friend Nicholas Brass past away at 28yrs old. I realized that this was to close for comfort. My High School friends were my family and I would consider Nick to be a first cousin. The ironic thing is I was just thinking to myself how I need to stop procrastinating musically before I got the call. I'm a singer first, before being an in Demand Record Producer, Mind Over Music Ent President, Cleen Clothes Founder, and everything else I have going on. I have songs I absolutely must share with the world and I just keep over analysing everything. The "Rude Awakening" is that tomorrow is not promised and it would be ashamed if I didn't share my gift to the world before I check out. I'll be displaying my heart musically start March 2, 2009.

Guidence Re: Chris & Rhianna

I am plagued with disappointment this morning as I read about the Chris Brown and Rhianna domestic dispute. That subject was all everyone talked about last night at the Konlive event I attended last night. I do not understand why either of them weren’t accompanied by a team; someone responsible for them when they obviously weren't responsible for themselves. They are both kids. Money and fame does not make you an adult. We won't know the magnitude of what caused the dispute, but it would seem as though Chris and Rhianna would have used a little bit better judgment and discretion in regards to the matter.

The bigger issue here is there had to be a history of disputes for this to occur. Someone in the circle had to be aware of the issues they faced in their relationship. There was no liaison of peace in their lives. Out of all the people around them that consider them a commodity, and no was there to be the liaison of peace. Where is the guidance? Chris needs a mentor at his age, and I hope someone in the industry that he respects can reach out to him and help him change before it is too late.

When a celebrity is in trouble, it becomes costly to the team of business people involved. Once that image becomes tainted, it’s difficult to shake especially in this case. Domestic abuse at 19 is going to be a roadblock in Chris's career. A colleague at the party told me that after Chris let his manager go, he has been wild'n out big time. Another friend said he was at Center Stage, a popular rehearsal venue for the stars, racing his Lamborghini in the street.

This industry needs more guidance as a whole.

This week I've been out producing on the go, I went to Palos Verde (my future residence) to work out by the beach, then yesterday I went to LA Live to feel the creative energy....it was great. I also find riding the train and buses to be more productive creatively. More time to think and see new things you can't see while you driving. Bus ain't so bad

I haven't been to sleep yet...this is the longest day yet.....Running errands all day...doing music edits, working on the film score, which I finally completed at 3 something am.....We also had a Video Shoot for the hottest Christmas song That I produced and Co-wrote with O.N.E. Its Called kissing the night away. go get it on itunes. I'll be sending out a mass email to promote the song thanks.
